3G data is becoming mandatory requirement for a smartphone user. Network providers also provide attractive 3G data packages. The most important feature of 3G network is its speed. Network providers Advertise speeds ranging from 2Mbps to 14.4Mbps. But most of the users found it difficult to reach speed anywhere near the speed specified by the network provider. They are some common reason we are expecting like,
1. Low network coverage
2. No 3G coverage
But in some cases we notice smartphone no getting connected to 3G network if it is under 3G network coverage area. Some of the users found it switching to from 3G to 2G(H+ to E) when started using data.
WHY CONNECTION IS AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHING TO 2G?
Firstly 3G network provide amazing data transfer speed. Which increase the power requirement for the network provider, so they try to avoid 3G connection maximum as possible. So if user tell network provider to choose ‘Any’ network, they will switch between 3G and 2G according to coverage. This switching experience will make network data usage experience terrible. So, why connection is automatically switching to 2G? because we are telling them to!. The default choice for network in new smartphone is GSM/WCDMA this will tell network provider to choose any of the available network 3G or 2G.
HOW TO PREVENT SWITCHING FROM 3G TO 2G NETWORK?
Some Smartphone provide option to choose Network Type in Settings> Mobile Networks> 3G Service> Network Type here we can choose ‘WCDMA only’ option to always remain in 3G network.
But new smartphones are not providing WCDMA only option in network type. In that cases follow following steps.
- Type *#*#4636#*#* in your dial pad.
- Choose Phone information from the list
- Next page scroll down to Preferred network type and choose WCDMA only option from dropdown
yes, Since we have chosen WCDMA only(or 3G) smartphone will not connect to any network if we are not in 3G converge area. In that case we need to switch back to WCDMA Preferred option to use 2G network.
